Obituary for Sister Mary Bernadette Swist

Sr. Mary Bernadette Swist passed into eternal life at the age of 87 on Tuesday May 13, 2014 at the Holy Family Care Center. Sr. Bernadette’s religious life spanned 70 years with the Felician Sisters. Sr. Bernadette was formerly principal at St. Bernard’s School in Enfield and St. Mary School in Torrington. Sr. Bernadette was an educator at: the former Our Lady of the Angels Academy in Enfield, St. Mary School in Simsbury, St. Mary School in Middletown, and St. Joseph School in Rockville. She was born on July 7, 1926 in Manchester New Hampshire, the daughter of the late Thomas Swist and Louise (Hudzik) Swist. Calling hours for Sr. Bernadette will be held on Thursday May 15, 2014 from 1 to 6 p.m. at the Felician Sister’s Convent Chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday May 16, 2014 at 11 a.m. in, Our Lady of the Angels Chapel; 1315 Enfield St. Enfield, CT. Burial will follow in St. Adalbert’s Cemetery in Enfield. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Felician Sister’s Retirement Fund 1315 Enfield St. Enfield, CT 06082.
