Obituary for Josephine M. D'Antonio (Siraco)
Josephine M. D’Antonio, 93, born Maria Josepha Siraco in Holyoke MA and raised in Springfield, MA by her parents Michael Siraco and Maria (DiBenedetta) Siraco. The youngest of three siblings, Josephine was pre-deceased by her brothers Angelo and John Siraco, and a sister Clementina Siraco, all of Springfield, MA.
Josephine attended Commerce High School in Springfield, MA, and in 1947 married her life-long love, David Mario D’Antonio. Residing in their laughing and loving home in Longmeadow, MA for all 54 years of their marriage, they raised a daughter and a son. A devout catholic, Josephine was a parishioner of St. Mary’s Church in Longmeadow, and a past member of the St. Mary’s Guild.
The Lord peacefully granted Josephine eternal rest, with family members at her side, on Sunday, 8/17/14. She leaves behind a daughter, Paula D’Antonio of Mililani, HI, a son David D’Antonio and his wife Violet of Enfield, CT, her nephew, John Siraco of Springfield, MA, many loving caregivers, close friends, and likely her favorite companion, JJ, the family cat. Josephine’s love, gentle heart, good nature, and ever-present sense of humor will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Friends may gather with her family on Friday (Aug. 22, 2014) during calling hours from 4 to 7 p.m. at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels 43 Shaker Rd. Enfield, CT. Funeral Service will be held on Saturday (Aug. 23,) with the procession forming at 8:30 a.m. at the funeral home to St. Mary’s Church 519 Longmeadow St. Longmeadow, MA for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Interment will follow in St. Michael’s Cemetery in Springfield, MA.
Memorial donations may be made in memory of Josephine to the Alzheimer’s Association CT Chapter, 2075 Silas Deane Hwy. Ste. 100 Rocky Hill, CT 06067or to the American Cancer Society 30 Speen St. Framingham, MA. 01701.
