James "Jim"  J.   Pace, Sr.
James “Jim” J. Pace, Sr., 95, of Columbia and formerly of Enfield entered into eternal rest on Tuesday (Aug. 19, 2014) at Johnson Memorial Medical Ctr., Stafford Springs. He was the beloved husband of 63 years to the late Antoinette V. (Caravaggi) Pace. James was born on Jan. 1, 1919 in the Thompsonville section of Enfield to the late Charles and Virginia (Patronaggio) Pace, and resided in Enfield most of his life. He served his country proudly with the 1st Armored Division of the U.S. Army during WW II in the European African Middle Eastern Theater Campaign. Prior to his retirement Jim was employed with Hamilton Standard/Sundstrand for over 30 years. He loved to read, was a NY Yankees fan and an amateur boxer. Jim was very devoted to his family and will be greatly missed especially by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He leaves behind to mourn his passing a son James J. Pace, Jr. of Enfield and a daughter Virginia Hellstrom & husband Robert of Columbia, his five beloved grandchildren, Wendy Turer, Daren Pace, Jessica Pace, Brice Hellstrom and Adric Hellstrom, and eight adored great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a brother Charles and a sister Lillian.
Relatives and friends may gather with his family during calling hours on Thurs. (Aug. 21,) from 5:00 to 8:00 pm. at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels 43 Shaker Rd. Enfield. A Funeral Service will take place on Friday (Aug. 22,) at 11:00 am at the funeral home followed by burial with military honors in St. Patrick’s King St. Cemetery in Enfield. Memorial donations in his memory may be made to the Disabled American Veterans Hartford Chapter, P.O. Box 310909 Newington, CT 06131.
