Obituary for Madeline B. Papacalos

Madeline Calabrese Papacalos 88, passed away peacefully at her daughter's home in Longmeadow, Massachusetts on October 15, 2014. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 56 years, Paul J. Papacalos and her son Paul JD Papacalos of Billerica, Mass. She is survived by three daughters, Cheryl Gour of Herrick, Illinois Robin Nicoletti of Clinton Massachusetts and Tina DAmato of Longmeadow, Massachusetts. She is also survived by three grandsons Joseph Gour, Peter Joseph Gour and Joseph Nicoletti, three granddaughters Laurie Nicoletti Ortiz , Tiffany Gianpaolo, Kelly DAmato and four great-grandchildren.
Madeline was born in 1926 in Springfield Massachusetts to Doris Plummer Calabrese and Dominic "Patsy" Calabrese. She lived briefly in Maine before her family moved to Clinton Massachusetts. Madeline graduated from Clinton high school in 1945 and attended nursing school At Clinton hospital. In the 1940s she worked at Rayovac in Clinton where she met her beloved Paul. They were married a few years later and lived most of their lives in Clinton Massachusetts where they raised four children. Madeline was an avid reader, antique collector and gardener. She enjoyed many other interests including baking and her Apple pies were legendary. Of all her interests, her family was her main focus always.
A private memorial service will be observed at a later date. Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Clinton Massachusetts. Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels Enfield, CT is assisting her family with arrangements.
