Obituary for Henry P. Falkowski

Henry P.  Falkowski
Henry P. Falkowski, 90, of Enfield, died peacefully on Saturday, January 24, 2015 at Woodlake of Tolland, surrounded by his loving family. Born on July 14, 1924, in Suffield, Henry was the son of the late Walter and Christina (Murkowicz) Falkowski. A lifelong resident of Enfield, Henry was a communicant of St. Bernard Church. He retired after forty-two years of service from Pratt and Whitney Aircraft. Henry proudly served his country in the United States Army as a Corporal for the Company M 175th Infantry Regiment having served in Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland and Central Europe; and was the recipient of the Good Conduct Medal, Victory Medal, Bronze Star, and the European African Middle Eastern Theatre Campaign Ribbon. Henry was an acting member of the 29th association and commander of Post 93 for two years. He was very active in the American Legion John Maciolek Post 154 for many years and was vice chairman of the ambulance association of Enfield, raising funds to purchase new ambulances for the town. Henry joined the Citizens Police Academy of Enfield for several years. He enjoyed traveling, working in his yard, and always kept busy on home improvements on the house he and Irene built. He is survived by his beloved wife of sixty-six years, Irene (Boudreau) Falkowski; his sons, Henry P. Falkowski, Jr. and his wife, Carole of Somers, and James P. Falkowski and his wife, Diane of Stafford Springs; two grandchildren, four great grandchildren; his brothers, Charles Falkowski of Florida, Chester Falkowski and his wife, Ann of Enfield, and Frank Falkowski of Enfield; his sister, Elizabeth Strycharz of South Carolina and many nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by Victor Falkowski, Edward Falkowski, Florence Jones, and Leon Falkowski. Family and friends will gather by 10:15 a.m. on Thursday, January 29, 2015 at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels for a procession to St. Bernard Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Burial with Military Honors will be held at St. Bernard Cemetery. Henry’s family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, January 29, 2015 beginning at 9:00 a.m. at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels, 43 Shaker Road, Enfield, CT 06082. The family would like to thank the staff of Woodlake of Tolland for the compassionate care shown to Henry during his illness. Memorial contributions may be made to either St. Bernard Church or Little Sisters of the Poor c/o St. Joseph Residence.
