Obituary for Anthony "Tony" J. Basile

Anthony "Tony" J.  Basile
Anthony “Tony” J. Basile, 89, of Enfield, entered into eternal life on Monday (Feb. 16, 2015) surrounded by his loving family. He was born on January 12, 1926 in the Thompsonville section of Enfield, CT, the son of Gaetano and Anna (Romano) Basile and was a lifelong resident. Tony served his country honorably with the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
In 1953, he brought his beloved bride Isabella (Antonini) Basile to America from Paris. He was a devoted husband and an amazing father. He worked for 56 years as a machinist until retiring in 1995. Tony was a parishioner of St. Patrick Church and a member of the St. Joseph Society.
He enjoyed fishing, clamming, baseball, bowling and playing cards, but always second to being with his family.
Besides his wife, Isabella he is survived by his three loving daughters; Anna Lassow & husband Lewis of Glastonbury, Angela Basile Haddad of Glastonbury and Isabella Podeszwa & husband Christopher of Waterford, his eight beloved grandchildren; Nicholas, Abbe, Evan, Philip, Samuel, Sophia, Connor and Emilia. Tony is also survived by a sister; Vincie Basile and two sisters-in-law; Jean Basile and Rosa Pasini both of Enfield, along with many nieces and nephews. Tony was also an exceptional neighbor, friend and papa. He was predeceased by his sister; Eva Basile Fusick, and three brothers; Joseph, Thomas and Carlo Basile and a sister-in-law; Eda Basile.
Relatives and friends may gather with his family during calling hours on Wednesday (Feb. 18, 2015) from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels 43 Shaker Rd. Enfield. Funeral services will be held on Thursday (Feb. 19, 2015) with the funeral procession forming at 9:00 a.m. at the funeral home to St. Patrick’s Church for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment with military honors will follow in St. Patrick’s King Street Cemetery, Enfield. Memorial donations in his memory may be made to the Enfield Food Shelf or Enfield Loaves and Fishes.
