Obituary for Anthony "Tony" J. "Poppie" DiGregorio

Anthony "Tony" J.  "Poppie"  DiGregorio
Anthony “Tony” J. DiGregorio, 92, of Enfield, entered into eternal life on Saturday (Feb. 14, 2015). He was the beloved husband of 36 years to the late Yolanda T, (DeMaio) DiGregorio. Anthony was born on Feb. 9, 1923 in the Thompsonville section of Enfield, the son of the late Joseph and Paulina (Marchese) DiGregorio and resided in Enfield most of his life and in Pittsburgh, PA. He was a graduate of Enfield High School, and received his Associates Degree from AIC, (American International College) in Springfield, MA. Tony served his country honorably with the U.S. Army during WW II. Prior to retiring in 2000 Tony was employed for 12 years with Loomis Chaffee School as Asst. Athletic Director and Umpired Softball, he was a District Manager for Electrolux for 25 years and worked at Hamilton Standard for 5 years. Tony was a parishioner of St. Patrick Church and member of the John Maciolek Post 154 American Legion, Enfield. He was an avid runner, enjoyed tennis, golf, softball, the beach and horse racing, and was NY Yankees and Giants fan.
Tony is survived by his loving children; Carole Martin & husband Dale, Jr. of Scottsdale, AZ, Donna Jean DiGregorio of Virginia Beach, VA, Joseph DiGregorio & wife Kosu of Killaloe, Ontario, Michael DiGregorio & wife Ara of Westlake Village, CA, Bonnie Sproha & husband John of Stafford Springs, Ann Coro & husband Howard, Jr. of Enfield, his ten beloved grandchildren; Jennifer Blakeley, Bryan Martin, Melissa DeFalco, Darcy DiGregorio, Daniela DiGregorio, Carlo DiGregorio, Rachel Sproha, Renee Coro, Howard Coro, III, and Anthony Coro, four adored great-grandchildren Andrew DiGregorio, Layla DiGregorio, Roman DeFalco and Isabella Blakeley, also Baby Coro due in July. He was predeceased by a brother Nino DiGregorio and a sister Josephine Coughlin.
Relatives and friends may gather with his family during calling hours on Thursday (Feb. 19, 2015) from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels 43 Shaker Rd. Enfield.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday (Feb. 20, 2015) at 10:00 a.m. in St. Patrick Church corners of High & Pearl Streets in the Thompsonville section of Enfield. Interment will follow with military honors in St. Patrick’s King Street Cemetery in Enfield.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital or St. Joseph’s Residence/Little Sisters of the Poor.
