Obituary for Gary W. Gillette

Gary W.  Gillette
Gary W. Gillette, of Enfield passed from his earthly journey at the age of 62 on Monday (Feb. 16, 2015) with loved ones at his side. He was the beloved husband of 40 years to Helen S. (Doherty) Gillette. Gary was born on March 20, 1952 in Roxbury, CT, the son of the late Horace and Maie (Squires) Gillette and had resided in Enfield for 33 years. He served his country proudly with the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. Prior to retiring in 2013 Gary was employed with Canadair /Bombardier in Windsor Locks for 31 years. Gary was a member of CT Aero Tech School Board of Directors, Patriot Guard, American Legion Post 101, Somers, CT and Harley Owners Group West Conn and Ellington Chapters. He was also actively involved with the Connecticut Miracle Ride for benefit of Connecticut Children’s Medical Center.
Besides his wife Helen, Gary is survived by his two sons and daughters-in-law; Benjamin & Michelle Gillette of Enfield and William & Lacy Gillette of Vernon, a grandson Wesley Gillette. He is also survived by his siblings; Cheryl Bennett & husband Pete of New Preston, Todd Gillette & wife Tracy of Roxbury, and Tracy Bertulis & husband Mark of Northfield, along with many nieces, nephews and friends. Gary was predeceased by two brothers; Gregory and Guy Gillette.
Relatives and friends may gather with his family during calling hours on Friday (Feb. 20, 2015) form 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels 43 Shaker Rd. Enfield, CT. The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday (Feb. 21, 2015) at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow with military honors in the Hazardville Cemetery in Enfield. Memorial donations in his memory may be made to the Connecticut Children’s Medical Center, Attn: Miracle Ride/Gary Gillette, 282 Washington St. Hartford, CT 06106.
