Obituary for Bertrand E. Grondin

Bertrand E. Grondin
Bertrand Emile Grondin, 70, of Enfield, beloved husband of Lisette (Roy) Grondin for 48 years, passed away Friday, February 12, 2016. Bertrand was born in Ste. Clotilde, Quebec, Canada on August 14, 1945, son of the late Philippe & Florence (Pomerleau) Grondin. A big man in stature, spirit and love, Bert brought joy, laughter and great memories to everyone that knew him. His family and friends were the joy of his life.
Bert was the oldest of nine siblings and he showed his commitment to family at an early age. He helped support his family by working in saw mills and various other jobs in rural Quebec before pursuing his career in the construction industry in Connecticut in 1963. During one of his many trips back to La Beauce, Quebec to be with his family he met Lisette, the love of his life. They were married on August 19, 1967 in Ste. Benoit, Quebec and eventually permanently moved to CT to raise their family.
Bert took tremendous pride in being a quality, hard-working drywall subcontractor and created many great relationships throughout the years. His incredible work ethic and undying love for his family allowed his children to enjoy a beautiful childhood in Enfield. Some of the greatest joys in his life came from laughing and joking with friends and playing cards with his granddaughter.
Bertrand is survived by his wife Lisette, his daughter Josee Martin and his beloved granddaughter Kailee, his son Jimme, and his daughter and son-in-law Jessica and Adam Hollenbach, all of Enfield, CT; as well as his siblings and their spouses in Connecticut and Quebec including Denis, Gaetan, Laureat, Jean-Paul, Camile, Normand and Jean-Rock Grondin and predeceased by his sister Celine. He will also be missed by Lisette’s sister’s and their husbands as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.
His family honored his wishes and a final gift of love was given by Bertrand as a donor who helped others in need through the donation of his eyes and tissue.
Family and friends may gather with his family during calling hours on Thursday, February 18 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels, 43 Shaker Road, Enfield, CT 06082. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Saint Bernard Church, 426 Hazard Avenue, Enfield, CT 06082 on Friday, February 19 at 11:00 am. Interment will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Division of Cardiology at Saint Francis Hospital, Hartford, CT.
