Obituary for George L. Gaskins

George L.  Gaskins
George L. Gaskins, 90, of Enfield, entered into eternal rest on Saturday May 13, 2017 at Johnson Memorial Medical Center, Stafford Springs. George was the beloved husband of 65 years to Irene (Fisk) Gaskins. Born on Oct. 31, 1926 in Lakeland, Florida, son of the late Jerdan and Zoe (Batdorff) Gaskins. He resided in Enfield for the past 50 years and in West Palm Beach, FL before that. George served his country honorably for 22 years in the military with the U.S. Coast Guard and Air Force. Prior, to his retirement George was employed with Pratt & Whitney Aircraft for 30 years. He was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church, where he was very involved for 50 years, he served as a greeter and a trustee.
George is also survived by a granddaughter Tina Norman and great grandchild Keegan Gardner. Beside his parents, he was also predeceased by a son Douglas Gaskins, a daughter and son-in-law Gloria and Michael Norman and grandson Robbie Norman.
A Graveside Service with military honors will be held on Thursday May 18, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in the Hazardville Cemetery in Enfield. In lieu of flowers memorial donations in George’s memory may be made to the Emmanuel Baptist Church, 38 Front St. West Springfield, MA 01089.
