Obituary for Priscilla C. Souder (Conrady)

Priscilla C. Souder (Conrady)
Priscilla C. Souder, 85, of Crescent Lake, Enfield, went home to heaven to sing hymns of praise to our Lord and sketch portraits of the angels. She was predeceased by her husband of fifty-one years, Robert, in 2000.
Priscilla was born in 1929 in Rockville, CT to Carl and Ethel Conrady. She graduated from Rockville High School and attended Vesper George School of Art in Boston. She worked as a secretary for many years at Lapointe Industries, then Pratt & Whitney Aircraft. She was an active member of Somers Congregational Church from 1951 until her transition to Rivers Watch in October 2012. She served as secretary on the Diaconate Committee and was a member of the Women’s Club and the newsletter mailing committee.
Priscilla was an accomplished area artist. Her mural of the life of Christ hangs on the walls of the Somers Congregational Church Parish House Chapel. For six years Priscilla taught watermedia classes at George Walter Vincent Smith Museum School in Springfield, MA. She exhibited at CPTV Gallery, DJ St. Germain Campus Center Gallery at WNEC, and First Church Gallery, online, and at Harwichton, MA. She was a member of the Tolland County Art Association. She earned over twenty-three awards for her art locally, statewide, and in other areas of the country. She looked forward to her annual June weekend trip to Boston where she and fellow artist Liz Wolfson would exhibit their work at an outdoor show.
Priscilla was a loving mother to her daughter and son-in-law Susan and Jerry Rondeau of Enfield. She delighted in spending time with her precious grandchildren: Mark Rondeau of Enfield, Thomas Rondeau of Broad Brook, Paul and Jennifer Rondeau of Brooklyn, NY, Teresa and Bob Lash of Windsor Locks, as well as the great-grandchildren who brought her so much joy: Gage Rondeau, Jack Rondeau, Kendra and Naomi Lash. She leaves her dear sister, Anna Buscaglia, of North Eastham, MA, and brother-in-law Herbert Souder of Farmington Hills, MI, her cherished nephew and four nieces and their families: Carl (Diane) Buscaglia, Connie Lanteigne, Joan (Jim) Ross, Kathy Souder, Janet (Dave) Wilson. She leaves her cousins Jean (Gil) Weber, Marvis Maron & June Westerlund. Additionally, she leaves behind her devoted friend of fourteen years, Jim Meagher of Somers. Jim and Priscilla would often be seen at Sunday brunch at the Somers Inn or the Somers Plaza.
Priscilla leaves her Crescent Lake community friends: Carmela, Evelyn, Ginger & Bob, Roma and many others, as well as her church community and many artist friends. Many thanks also to Donna Davis, who faithfully drove Mom to and from church every week for more than a year.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Loretta Pilagin, the wonderful, caring staff at Rivers Watch, and the doctors and staff at Mercy Hospital for their compassionate care. Relatives and friends may gather with her family on Tuesday April 15, 2014 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels 43 Shaker Rd. Enfield. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday April 16, at 10:00 a.m. at the Somers Congregational Church 599 Main St. Somers (Please go directly to Church). Interment will follow in the Hazardville Cemetery in Enfield. In lieu of flowers, donations in Priscilla’s memory may be made to Somers Congregational Church.
