Sylvester J.  Bottone Sr.
Sylvester J. Bottone, Sr., husband of the late Christina (Lamagna) Bottone, has left our world to be with his beloved Christina. He passed Sunday, September 14, 2014. Sylvester, born May 22, 1921, was 93 years old. He was the son of the late Vincenzo and Pauline (Cermiglis) Bottone. Syl proudly served his country in the U.S. Army, World War II. He was a member of the Italian American War Veterans of the U.S. During his life, he enjoyed playing golf, visiting the casino to play poker, and watching Red Sox games. He sadly leaves behind four children, Sylvester and Karen Bottone, Jr. of Manchester, CT, Pauline Bellomo, Vincent and Peggy Bottone, Sr. and Bernadine and Norman Landry, all of Enfield, CT. Sylvester was grandparent to nine grandchildren, Kimberly and Christopher Diana of Scottsdale, AZ, Laura and Owen Svalestad of Ellington, CT, Melissa and David Curylo of East Hampton, CT, Jennifer and Gordon Shepardson of Manchester, CT, Jay and Missi Bellomo, Jackie Bellomo of Enfield, CT , Vincent and Hollie Bottone, Jr. of Round Rock, TX, Colin M. Riendeau of New York, New York and Chad and Robin Landry of Enfield, CT. Sylvester also leaves 14 great-grandchildren and many, loving nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers and one sister and leaves two surviving sisters, Francis Vecchiarelli of Longmeadow, MA and Angelina and Frank Cava of Springfield, MA. He also leaves behind many close friends of which a special mention of appreciation is extended to them and family members who were there for him in his time of need. Syl’s family sends a special thank you to the Camerota-family, friends and employees for their continued friendship, visits , support, and kindness shown to Sylvester during his years, especially after the passing of Christina. In lieu of flowers, his family requests donations be made in his name to the St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital Arrangements are: Calling hours, Wednesday, September 17, 2014 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels, 43 Shaker Rd., Enfield and a Mass of Christian Burial, 10:30 a.m., Thursday, September 18, 2014 in St. Martha’s Church. Burial, with Military Honors will follow in St. Patrick King St. Cemetery.
