Paul Leavitt Mooney, 77 of Enfield, beloved husband of Carol A. (Choquette) Mooney for 53, years entered into eternal rest, Monday, June 29, 2015 at St. Francis Hospital. Born in Boston, MA, on September 7, 1937 he was the son of the late James J. and Mary (Leavitt) Mooney. He was a graduate of Boston Trade High School, attended Boston University and proudly served his country with the U.S. Marine Corps. Prior to his retirement he was a Sales Manager with WWF Paper Co. An active member of the community, Paul was involved in numerous organizations which reflected his commitment to his children and children in general, education and his Catholic faith. He coached track and field, soccer, baseball, softball and basketball. As a communicant and active member of Holy Family Church since its very beginning, he taught CCD for many years. He was one of the first volunteers of People for Youth, New Directions, bringing help to those in need of services. Paul was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend. In addition to his loving wif, Carol, he is survived by his children, grandchildren and great-grandchild all of whom he loved with all of his heart. Mark and Marianne Mooney, Timothy Mooney, Michael Mooney and Mark Ferrell, Deirdre and Jack Ferraro, Denise and Buddy Gagliardi, Jennifer Mooney Udas, Seamus and Jamie Mooney, Sean and Kate Mooney, Logan Mooney, Shea Mooney, Tim Mooney, Tara Mooney, Hayes Mooney, Sam Ferraro, Erin Ferraro, Jarrett Rowland-Mooney, Gwen Udas, Tino Gagliardi, Fiona Mooney and Fallon Mooney. He also leaves his beloved older brother and lifelong friend, James “Jim” H. Mooney of Dorchester, MA and sister-in-law, Patricia Choquette of Hamden, MA. He also leaves many nieces, nephews and many special friends he has made along the way. Paul’s family would like to thank the staff at St. Francis Hospital for the kind, thoughtful and special care he received. Paul’s family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, July 3, 2015 from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels, 43 Shaker Road, Enfield, CT 06082. Family and friends will gather on Saturday, July 4, 2015 by 9:15 a.m. at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels for a procession to Holy Family Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Military Honors will follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Paul Mooney Memorial Fund, c/o United Bank, 65 Palomba Drive, Enfield, CT 06082, Attn: Megan DaCosta or online at http://PaulMooneyMemorialFund.mydagsite.com/. These donations will benefit the education of Paul’s grandchildren, Logan and Shea.
